IDMSG Presentation – Deer Mgt Stakeholder Forum 31.08.23

The Irish Deer Management Strategy Group under the chairmanship of Mr Teddy Cashman was established to develop a sustainable deer management strategy for Ireland in consultation with stakeholders. The Group established 5 subgroups earlier this year to examine and make recommendations in the following areas. Venison, Training/Education, Collaboration, Legislation and Land Management. The IDS had representatives on the Venison, Training and Collaboration groups.

This is the IDMSG report to stakeholders on all the recommendations made to it. There are a number that cut across all groups and some that will need to be discussed further before they are included or not in any final report to the Government.

The Society will continue to work with the DMSG with a view to ensuring any Deer Management Strategy had deer welfare as a core principal
